mornin dave![[:D]](https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/forum_images/smiley4.gif)
best route i would recco. is m6-m6toll-m42-m40-a34-m3-m27-a31-a350.
nearly all m/way-dual carriageway, apart from final leg.
i know the toll is not cheap (£8 )but its worth it.less traffic holdups enroute.
safe journey

Depends what day you travel as well! We travelled back from South Wales this weekend, left at just after 5pm and once we got on the M4,M5,M6 run there was virtually no traffic all the way home to Stoke.

Choices...!!
I travel the motorways and do Poole/ Dorset all the time from here in the north west, M6 brum should be ok outside of rush hour unless the signs at the toll junction say otherwise. M5...M4..Bath..A350 is my route into Blandford and sometimes Poole...very pretty with loads of thatched villages etc etc but closer to Blandford the road gets tight when HGV's come the other way around blind bends.
M6..( M6 toll if busy) then M42...M40...A34...M27 etc is the fastest one into Poole as long as the A34 is OK..the easiest when towing....but the most boring,, dual carriageway/mway most of the way.

Its a long way from the M5 to Poole, and little winding lanes in places too. There's no motorway in Dorset you see. Best route - and the one we used to take from Doncaster, when we lived in Poole last year was to pick up the A34, down to the M3, then the M27, A31 follow the signs to Poole. We used to take the rat run from off the A338 to Poole, but not with a caravan on back!

We've just been down to Poole from the West Midlands. We found the route Jenny suggests to be fine - not so good returning as far as Oxford today though, due to an accident on the M27 and another on the A34 - and being Friday lunchtime!
