Hi Guys

Have posted this in a couple of areas so apologie if you've already read it!

Tried to use my new paella pan on my cadac at the weekend but it didnt seem to get hot and then the flame kept flaring up. Any suggestions? Should I have my deflector on when using it?

Its almost as if it wasnt getting enough oxygen to the flame.

Hiya shaz, we haqve the cadac as well but not the paella pan ... yet, i was under the impression the deflector was for the bbq and griddle only but i reserve the right to be wrong . I have the number if you want to give them a ring ? just let me know.

Had the same problem a couple of years ago.

Inside the metal tube underneath your cadac there is a plastic funnel shaped device, which is supposed to stop wind blowing right through the tube/mix the air and gas evenly.

HOWEVER, I found that if you turn the gas down low, the flame disappears down the tube, and melts the plastic.

Hoave a look down the tube, and if there is a nice clean plastic funnel, your fault is somewhere else. If there is something black and charred, write Cadac, they'll send you one out for free! It just pushes into place.

Hello!  The instuctions on the Paella pan say to take the diffuser off the cadac to use it.  We are on our second Paella pan having used the first one so much it lost it's non stick.  The first one worked better with no diffuser, but we have found with our new one (which has a ridge in it) that the flame goes out all the time if we don't use the diffuser, so we use it with the diffuser now and it'd great!

One last comment... a bad workman blames his tools!

When we use the paella pan we strip the cadac down so its just the burner with the blue surround (dont know the techinical name for the black bit but its like a drip tray) Then you will notice 3 evenly spaced steel nobbles? stuck out from the edge of inside the cadac, the paella pan sits directly on these. the flame hardly ever blows out now on ours only when its really windy ! one tip tho use a low heat as its very close to the pan and can burn easily! roasted a chicken in ours last week!!

Hi, we use ours without the diffuser and it is just great - takes a while to cook but that is probably due to the gigantic amounts we do! Stick with it - they are fab!

I'm with you.  Cadac's are a waste of gas.  Got rid of mine at a car boot.

Get a Weber.

I always use the diffuser plate - for the griddle, BBQ rack, Paella pan. I haven't ever used the Scottel but this year we'll be going away with just our youngest so it will be christened!

I suppose it's down to individual experience - I like the eazi chef so much I've just bought the safari LP.  We use ours constantly and the gas lasts us ages and we do all sorts of cooking on it from bbq's to roasts.

Bought a traditional steel paella pan off fleabay (12 quid delivered for a 40cm one)and use it direct on the pot stand over the flame.

cooks great like this, and I only need to use it on the minimum flame setting.

Think the cadac paella pan at 40 ish quid is way too pricey!

Mixed feelings re mine.  The skottle is great as a wok though.

It's just a bit bulky for my liking and you don't want to be dismantling every day - fine for a site for several days.

It goes on the long hols but I just take my smaller old "Woolies" gas bbq for short trips. I made a new "flame deflector" from stainless steel and it's as good as new.

Can't make pancakes on the woolies bbq though.  Cadac is a good bit of kit if you can be bothered.

OH MY DAYS!!

Poor Cadac, mine is insitu in the garden complete with camping shelves and the vango wind breaker.  I just don't know what we would do without ours, the pealla pan is a dream i make all sorts of casseroles roasting chickens stir fry and loads of other stuff,

stick with it and you will love it, put it straight on the flame.
