do you have a mobile phone? if so is it a smartphone or an iphone? TomTom for iphone is dead cheap and has free mapping updates. Tomtom for windows mobile is also quite cheap but doesn't have mapping updates freely available youhave to pay for them.
I wouldn't buy a dedicated sat nav device because if you get a windows mobile or iphone you can use if for sat nav and internet access and email and phone calls etc so its much better value for money.

Hi
Not posted here for a while but noticed your question, personally I (and a few folk I know) have used Garmin for years and been pretty happy with them, OK a good friend also swears by Tom Tom, I would say either would be fine
Of all places have a look here, prices are pretty good for the "Nuvi" range and in my experience they work well.
I've got an iPhone as well and whilst the built in gps is useful now and again I'd personally find it awkward to use it as a sat-nav in the car.
Hi meta1mickey, I think Halfords were doing the TomTom QL range at half price for around £150,think one of them was suitible for caravan towing, was originaly for lorrys but it allowed you to put in weight and length and it then restricted the narrow roads. Dont know if sale still on.saw advert on TV, may just be localized.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
Thanks all, he should find one out of the selection mentioned. I have a Navman, but if i can talk him into getting one that also does lorry routing, i will probably pinch it off him when i use the van lol
Have a look at the Snooper Strabo S370, currently on offer until 31/07 at around the right price. I've has one of these for around 2 years - works very well across UK and Europe.
