Cheers Gary,

Now there is a component burnt out as for a day there we could smell a bakalite kind of smell for a short while when the heater would first fire up.

Now there is no heat at all!

I will need to take out the circuit board behing the heater in the grey box to see what has burnt out.

Is there any pointers to which is the best replacement components of a better quality as I dont want to do it again!

I have had the van from new and its now 8 years old.

Cheers Stewart

Two possibles, if the green light on the control switch is still lit, then the transformer on the control board has not burnt out. This leaves one of the limit thermostats housed in the cover over the heating element connections.

I've got up-rated control boards and sell them on an exchange basis, I also sell my own remote thermostats and if pushed, Truma's limit stats, mostly you can get these stats from your local dealer, one is 125C, the usual one to burn out is the higher 175C

Gary

Thanks again, yes green light on and when selecting between the 3 power setting I can hear a click down at the heater.

I will look for the limit stats and check those. I dont recall seeing them when taking the front off the heater I take it they will be at the connections at the rear, but im sure I will trace them.

Cant believe it but the electric side of the water heater is not working! Fuse ok and not blowing fuses so looks like element has burnt out! unless there is some kind of 12v switching when using 240v to heat.

And to top it off smoke came out of the satellite funny enough which we use on the 12v supply????? I hope I dont have a charger/12v problem will check supply voltage when I get home all in one trip away!!!

Why don't you take the one out of the Swift and put it in the Clubman? We had a 1998 Clubman model and no issues with heating.

How did I miss an invitation for a cuppa??

If anyone still want to make one you don't need a holder, just make the lead long enough to reach from the back of the fire to the front where the gas temp sensor is and tie wrap the thermistor to the sensor. This is the one I made for Paul-B and it's 2ft long.

So, after a weekend away and probably trying to use the Ultraheat for the first time in 14 years, it quickly became apparent that it wasn't heating unless it was very close to full setting (9). It does heat using 500, 1000 & 2000 though.

Stumbled across this thread and bought this which looks very similar to the one above?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORHOME-CARAVAN-TRUMA-ULTRAHEAT-TEMPERATURE-OVER-RIDE........

Anyway, connecting to the circuit board should be fine as the unit is fitted in a wardrobe so easy enough to access.

My question is, where does the other end go? Can I simply feed it under the unit and out to the front? There's even a plastic clip on mine that looks like it would hold it. There's also what looks like a copper probe - the sensor for the gas? These are all at the very bottom at the front almost on floor level, so not easy to get a photo of.

UPDATE: Reading the reviews in the EBay link above showed the following.
