Hello all

Am curious to know how many members go caravaning on their own.

My other half seems to have lost interest for some reason but im still raring to go!

What you think guys?

Haven't been on my own but there are times when I wish I could.  I'd love to head out for a couple of days, just me & our eldest dog (Mindy, 5).  Nothing to worry about other than where to go for our next walk or which settee to snuggle up on.  Bliss!

I have considered buying a tent to go off with as I can't manage our van on my own.  I really think I'd quite enjoy it as I'm never on my own usually. 

Give it a go for a weekend - you won't know til you try!

If you enjoy your own company, then why not?

I'd say try it...because of my circumstances...its not always practicable to camp with my sons and daughters...or with members of the extended family who share my love of our pastime...so on many occasions its me...the dogs and a fishing rod!!!!

One thing....I dont have an OH so I dont have to take her feelings into account...or ask if its OK or not...Maybe you could come to some arrangement with your OH re the occasional w/end off on your own.........

I too do not have anyone else to consider, and the cat will never complain about the dog and I going camping!

I share Jelboy's sentiment about the need to consider the other half's feelings though, as time spent away on your own means less time with your OH, and resentments could build up and eventually comes to a boil etc...

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt so to speak with one divorce behind me, as my ex-hubby and I were spending more and more time apart, him with work, me driving alloever Europe on car rallies etc...

Since I've retired and she is still working to keep me in the lifestyle to which I want to be accustomed, I have loads of away time by myself , accompanied only by my pooches. This allows me to spend my days walking, eating everything that's bad for you and doing silly things that she would put the dampers on. I can not see the point of just using the van for the usual 2 week holidays just because she unable to get time off.

But when caravaning alone you have to be wary of the single women. Even an old B like me still gets chatted up sometimes. But it does the ego some good.
