We had a porch awning that scratched the paintwork on our previous 'van, nothing too serious that I couldn't get rid of with T cut, but a mark all the same.
When we got our new van I made a point of finding a porch awning that didn't partly cover any of the windows because of the possibility of them being scratched as they seem so soft and will scratch just washing the van.
I really would try to find one that is clear of the windows.
