hi, im thinking about buying the above sprite model. does anyone know when this model was started for sale and ended. so i can find out year, also the length. thanks. all i know is supposedly 1990s

The year of manufacture is on a plate just below the door to the left. Brilliant van plenty of room and they dont leak like modern ones. We had ours for a number of years now upgraded to a modern one gave the sprite to our son who is giving it plenty of use, its a 1992 mod worth about a thousand pounds.

thanks pmsmudge, the caravan is on ebay, for sale to bid in my town.the children of the owner, who are selling it for them wont allow viewing and wont disclose where it is , so i cant even look from outside. could you let me know is this model all 1992 and do you no length. thanks

we had one a few years back , it was a 1987 model , one of the first of the sprites with the integrated gas locker i think

put item number up i`ll have a look. but if they are being that awkward about viewing id be giving it a miss anyway

Wont allow viewing or tell you where it is?

If you bid and win it, Dont be fooled into the the auction is legally binding contract. RUBBISH!!

NO it is not. Ebay have proved many times they are not an auction otherwise they would have to give more protection from fraud and faulty goods like a real auction house.

Win go and view dont pay any deposit until you have seen and inspected it and are happy with the purchase.

Check windows to see if they were etched with a VIN number at any time, Dont buy if you are unhappy with the van or seller.

A 1990 van probably wont have etched windows but that shape went on for a few years, My sisters 94 van looks the same.

Be prepared to walk away, Seller probably wont want to haggle so pay what you have bid or walk away.

well, thanks all, the info about the caravan is good no leaks new battery etc i could go on. its in southampton under caravans. not touring caravans. there is 1 bid at mo for £200 which is there bottom price. bid ends sunday. surely if i bid ,then win ,money goes through paypal then held. if i go to collect and its not what they stated cant i not accept then contact ebay to stop funds. think the owners child thinks if they tell me location i might pinch it. ive tried to tell them im serious about bidding but their having none of it to let me know where it is. the pics look ok new curtains top con upholstery, just a bit of work on wood.

VIN number etching did come it to until 1992. So does not prove anything on a 1991 and older van.

It looks OK in the photos but only a actual inspection confirm that. If you really want it I would not pay anything upfront but only on collection and only if you are satisfied with it. Paypal is not the only payment method on Ebay particularly when collecting as this would be.

Alternatively you could pay by Paypal and if the caravan was not as described open SNAD dispute on Paypal. You should really read up on Ebay and Paypal about disputes before bidding so that you know the exact procedures to follow if required.

i wouldnt pay anything up front . bid , win & if its a shed walk away.

they just seem to be making things awkward , dont they want to sell it ??

I have bought many caravans off of ebay...i have never, never ever paid for one upfront without viewing first.   Even if i have won a caravan i have pulled out of many transactions if the caravan wasnt as described.  Dont be fooled by ebay's legal binding contracts - utter rubbish!  Also, photos dont show up everything, you will need to look behind curtains, feel walls, feel behind cushions etc

If they are not allowing a viewing, I would walk away. they are hiding something!
