We had similar arrangement and similar outcome!

We only have a small camper van so space is very limited.
I tend to leave non-perishables in the van like tins, pasta, rice, tea bags, coffee, sugar. I make sure they are in plastic containers.

I have a "thing" about the water and pipes standing stale so I like to empty them out, flush them out so clean ready for next trip. We are going away weekends only every couple of weeks at the moment. (Would like more but nothing gets done at home and we won't find the house behind the grass next time we get back!)

If the plastic containers have stood for too long, I give them a soak in baby bottle steriliser fluid. Tend to use the big containers just for the sink water though and have bottled water for first cup of tea before we reach drinking water tap on site.

I tend to clean up as I go along with sprays and wipes and give the van a hoover and mop out in between weekends. OH thinks its OTT but I think of it as a little home and I like it to be clean to set off on a new break - puts me in a better chilled holiday mood lol

I only clear the non-perishables out at the end of the season. We don't really get a chance to go away in the winter, if we did I wouldn't bother to remove them. The fridge and bedding are cleaned after every trip.

We are just back from Norfolk and away again in 3 weeks but I will be working right up to when we leave. I'm going to restock the non-perishables in the next couple of days as I'm not working and the van is at home at the moment. Then I should just have to put the clothes in before we go away.
