I have to spend several breaks per week in service areas & I find it interesting to sit & watch what goes on. Sometimes caravanners even speak, which is nice as I'm one too & I enjoy yakking to them about my favourite hobby. Over a period of time I've noticed a growing number of people ignoring the Long vehicle bay signs. In Michaelwood northbound recently the Long Load by was full of Lorries, Caravan outfits & a Motorhome. I counted over twenty available bays in the main lorry park but when two large low loaders pulled in, they had no where to park & had to sit on the through route.
Several weeks ago I was in Leigh Delamere services eastbound on the M4, Again the long load bay was full of normal sized vehicles, this time all lorries. A huge crane & its support artics pulled in, the artics parked in general lorry park bays but the crane had no choice but to park beside the vehicles sitting in the long load bay.
