Have you pushed the pump valve adaptor on fully , if not you'll struggle to get air into the tyre .

I had to jack up my FC to use my home start inflater, when the weight was off tyres, the air went in easily up to the correct reading. When I have used garage forecourt pumps I have had to pull the hose out of maching and then go under the trailer, to reach the opposite wheel.

The tyre inflator at at clackets has enough lenght for you.

To access it, head towards the garage and out the other side, to the imediate right of the shop, you will see the inflator and water stop. If you head as if you are going past it and out of the garage, you should then have enough room to reverse up, park and inflate the tyres. Just need to ba careful of all the traffic.

The other option for you on the way to Eurotunnel if clackets inflator is not working is continue down until you are on the M20 and do the same at the Maidstone services.

You really need to inflate the tyres before you go.  Don't leave it until you get to a convenient place.  It might be too late.  The electric pump should be sufficient if plugged into the car.  The mains adaptor might not be adequate.

I always head for the truck filling area on motorway services. The inflators there have huge hoses. They normally charge £1 but you get loads longer than you do for the car tyre machine.

But have to echo whats been said. Always check them when setting out, & cursoury kick might be an indication that theyre not flat but always best to check.

I'm still trying to get a high quality 12v tyre inflator, the ones I've seen are shockingly poor quality. A seperate pressure gauge is always a good bit of kit to carry, some gauges can be miles out.
