I have a 10 AMP tv socket in my caravan as a second tv point in the back of the van.
There is also a TV aerial piont so i am thinking of putting up a LCD tv for the kids on the wall.
I am not going to pay £300 for a Avtex tv and would prob buy an argos 16inch lcd tv for £100.
Questions:
How can i use the 10amp power socket and how and can i use a 240v tv or not? also i have a splitter on the digital areial so can i watch one digital channel in the front end tv and a different one in the back. Would it be easier to channel a cable to a 240 socket?
The 10A Tv socket is so that you can use a 12v TV when you are on a site without hook up.
There are a number of TV's on the market which will work off a 12V supply. I have one of the Avtar range which comprises an Analogue TV a Digital TV, FM radio and CD/DVD. The TV should come with a lead with a plug on the end which will fit the 10A socket.
The 10A socket can be used to feed other low voltage devices such as hoovers and you can buy the plug from any reputable caravan shop.
Whether a lead to a 240v TV is easier or not depends where the relavent socket is with respect to the TV.

Hi Jason Look for a cheap TV with a External Transformer [one with a box between plug & TV] I use a Tesco 19'' with built in DVD most small LCD TVs are 12v But they dont like more than 12-5v So if you plan to use it while on hook up, I would addvise a 12v stabliser, As your 10amp plug will be the same voltage as the battery charger is between 13-5 to 14v, The stabliser comes with the cigarette lighter connecton, I bought a female fitting £2 and just added the 10amp plug, you can buy a cigarette lighter fitting to suit your TV http://www.power-plus.tv/power_plus_power_supplies.htm
I have been using something similar to this for the last two years. I plug the 3 pin into the inverter and straight into the 12v socket in the van. No problems. Is that wrong, or have I been doing it right allt his time ??? I'm a bit worried after all the tech speak here.
Not wrong but more efficient if the 12V can go direct to the 12v rather than being stepped up to 230V and back down to 12V
We have 2 TVs in the van and the Manhattan can be used direct off the 12V as it has a mains to 12V power pack that can be unplugged but the other TV and Sky box need to be used via an inverter to step up 12V to 230V when mains is not available
The point about the 12v psu stabiliser is very valid. I had a LCD TV go on the blink by not having the stabiliser and running on the available 12v. Problem comes when turning on ehu and battery volts suddenly climb and especially if no other appreciable 12v load eg lights etc. An expensive lesson.

Thanks - Can you also watch too different freeview channels at the same time one in the front one in the back
I had to smile when I read this the first time. I assume the one telly would be for the kids, who might want to watch something different. It might be worth investing in headphones too. I use headphones when my daughter and wife have both gone to bed and i want to stay up and watch a TV programme. You can link headphones together too, with splitters. Just an idea to keep the peace.
