We are going back up to Edinburgh CC site on Sunday next (third visit to Scotland this year) for a visit to the Military Tattoo on Monday night at the Castle, apart from thick waterproof coats, umberella, flask of hot coffee and migi cream, any other bright suggestions to survive the night!

We are then going up to Dunkeld for the rest of the week staying for the first time at the Inver Mill Farm Site, anyone had any problems there?

Then across to 'Lock of the Lowes' to test my new camera on the Birdies! so will guarantee to get 'bit to death', it's easier surviving on my boat than this caravanning!

I agree a cushion is a must but make it a small one, the seating is quite tight. A visit to the loo beforehand as well as once in your seat, thats where you will stay. I am very jealous, we have been several times with the C&CC block booking and it is fantastic. The atmosphere is brilliant.

I dont think you will need migi cream as not very warm here at moment.

I would leave loads of time to get to tattoo as it will be heaving, as the festival started here at the weekend.  Loads of touris's at this time of the year.  I would also take a small hotwater bottle as it does get a little breezey up in the castle.

Hope the weather is better when you come as raining today.

Kelly

You might also need wellies for camping at inver mill as it tends to get rather damp.

Get one of those throw away plastic bin bags come capes to keep you dry before you go so you are not ripped off by sellers at the castle.

Just come back from Edinburgh (stayed in hotel). Went to tattoo last night. Cushions are £1 to hire from the esplanade, we always get them. The cheap gift shops were selling waterproof capes in a little bag for around £1.50, though seeing people in them, they might have been a bit short. We take a couple of those thin dry cleaning bags each for whilst sitting. One to pull over the feet and up to thighs, and the other to drape over the head, (over cagoule). Because you are crammed in like sardines, you tend to stay quite warm, and would scarecly be able to pour a hot drink.
There were C&CC people mentioned during the warm up. The show is really good this year, very high standard of music. Enjoy!

We are leaving Herefordshire on wednesday and working our way up to Edinburgh CC site for a visit to the Tattoo, first stop Delamere Forest C&CC then to Troutbeck Head CC Site, followed by Edinburgh, after we head up to Killin, then work our way back down via Craigie Gardens CC in Ayr down to Low Park wood CC in Kendal, one night in Uttoxeter then home.

Really looking forward to it, all planned around the Tattoo

I envy you. I love Dunkeld, especially that lovely housewares shop - I think it's called Kettles.

Hello Sailer 15

Note you are going to Killin CC site, we were up there in June in great weather at the Maragowan site, not sure if you have been before but I recommend you take the Northern route around lock Tay the A827, we also took the A827 off the A9 to Aberfeldy.

Nice place Killin with good facilities with walking distance from the site, the sites clean and ok but a bit dated compared to some.

Did you know there is a shuttle bus from the Edinburgh CC site to the Tattoo, but recommend you book it, Edinburgh at present is heaving as it is also the Edinburgh Festival so parking in town is not a bright idea!

Have a safe trip

Mike

Thanks franbee,GT60,Alan 551 and Happywalker for your tips, all noted as a bit of forwarning prepares you!.

Hope you like your GT60, GT60, we are delighted with ours, after reading of some of the problems with some new Olympus/Pegasus caravans and other makes we must be lucky, OR, was it because after the salesman did the PDI handover we ask to be left alone for an hour and we went over the van with a toothbrush, might sound stupid but well worth it and just found a bent water pipe, but some people just accept what they are told that everythings ok, remember when you leave that dealer anything later found will be a hassle to put right!

Mike
