We bought our Burstner about 4 months ago and I have only just gotten around to getting in touch with ThiefBeaters, very bad I know...
anyway they confirmed with the previous owner it's not nicked and have offered to transfer ownership on their records to me for the princely sum of £39.50 which is an annual payment.
For those not in the know their service involves permanently marking the van in upto 60 locations, approx only 10 of which are visable, 2 transpoder type tags and micro dots.
So the van's identity cannot be readily altered, they also keep a record of how/where the van is marked and will maintain their database as long as the subscription is up to date.
Their sales blurb says the main value in the service is to stop the van getting stolen in the 1st place.
Now our van not being built in the UK is not CRiS registered I'm not convinced of the value of their service at nearly £40/year, can I retrospectively get our van CRiS registered?
Our Thiefbeaters was a one off payment. I certainly would not pay them £40 per year for doing absolutely nothing except keeping a record of the transaction.
I think the OP meant the thiefbeaters is nearly £40 and wonders if they can get it CRIS registered as well.
I personally wouldn't bother with the thiefbeaters, if someone wants your van they'll get it no matter what security devices you have on it and if it's someone from the "travelling community" who plans to keep it for living in they will never be in touch with Cris or any other security company to check if it's nicked.
We've just done the basics, swapped our vans Cris to our name, put locks on and have it insured so if it does go at least we'll be paid out.
