just had to return our new elddis avante again to the dealer(3 holidays 2 cut short with faults as the dealer refused to come to site to fix the van)
this time due to a gas leak on the regulator, and have recieved a strange call from the delaer stating that the regulator is not covered under warranty and i will have to pay for a new one, apparently truma say that bottled lpg gas is oiling up the regulators and this is causing the failures, i find this hard to believe on a 4 month old caravan, our old senator had a similar regulator and in 4 years of ownership never had a problem ,if i had paid 17k for a car i could not see any warranty issues why are caravans so different !!!!!!!

------------- If You Open Your Mind Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out
This is very often caused by the regulator being fitted below the gas valve on the gas bottle causing any oil to drain into the regulator rather than back into the bottle - if this is the case for you then it would be the fault of whoever fitted the regulator.
If you do have to pay for a new regulator there are better ones than truma... apparently

We had the problem on our 2 year old Bailey and the regulator was changed under warranty without issue. We were on a rally at the time and I had to drive 60 miles (round trip) to collect it and fitted it myself.

Hi, when I was thinking about new auto type regulator, in March this year, spoke to the salesmanand he said same as Rune Caster, they clogged up and they had a lot of caravaners come back with thier new vans with this problem, he said regulator below top of gas bottle, was causeing the problem, remedy fit regulator above gas bottles,and/or change it.

Well my regulator is above the bottle, and mine clogged up during my last trip away.
The hose was also below the regulator to let said oil drip back into the bottle.
We are in exactly the same situation we had to cut our holiday short last week and take our swift back to discover for the same problem. We have to pick it up on thursday but they havent told us if it is covered under the warrenty or not.
hi tony, Have had the same with mine BUT for the first 3 years they were replaced under warrenty.van is now 4 1/2 years old and i am on my 8th regulator. Van is in at the moment, hoping it is cured this time. All the best andy

I have had 2 go in in 2 years in my motorhome, my reg is fitted above the bottles and i always made sure the pipe had a loop in it to keep any crap out, so i changed to the Gaslow stainless system as well. At least it has a 5 year guarantee, lets see if it will last any longer. when i was fishing in france this year, it stopped working so i did take all the plastic plugs out and simmer/boil it in soapy water for an hour, you could see a film of oil on the top and it did work for the last few days but changed it as soon as i got home.
This subject has been cropping up a lot since the regulators have been bulkhead fitted, but it's interesting to note that Calor Gas have been using this system, with high pressure rubber tubing from bottle to regulator, for many years (in excess of 45 at least) without suffering oiled up regulators.
Makes me wonder if these oiled up regulators are the same make or has anyone had the same problem with a new Calor Gas regulator that has been made in China?
