Hi
I love a bit of advice if possible.
We have a 1988 Avondale Waxwing. We absolutely love it.
We recently thought we might sell it and get a newer one with a cassette loo. But our caravan is beautiful, solid and dry. We love the layout of it and it suits us down to the ground. So we though this winter we'll spend some money on it, new blinds, a service, and have a cassette toilet put in.
What we wondered is how difficult is it to get hold of a cassette toilet and installing it, or do we take it somewhere and have the professionals do it for us, and if so, whats the cost.
We have never really needed to do many repairs to our van as we've been lucky enough not to need any, we just changed the water pump and bought and fitted new taps.

Do we attempt to get hold of instructions and a cassette loo from ebay and have a go ourselves???

You should be able to buy one from a dealer or on-line. The fitting instructions are actually in with the documents which we got with the caravan.

How easy I don't know relatively straightforward I guess depends on your abilities.

There are also caravan breakers.

They are also fitted to boats and campervans, and a lot of folks do do self build.

If you put a post in the fixed it section someone will tell you how to do it.  I think you can even get a template to help in where to cut.  I don't know how much it would cost to get one put in but i'd imagine with all the right tools a dealer/engineer wouldn't take too long to put one in.

As your 'van is so dry it sounds like a good idea to tart it up a bit rather than get rid of it for some unknown :)
