Worth pointing out that the owners manual won't tell you how to do repairs. Whats the problem? if it has stopped working on electric but still works on gas & 12v it is likely the 240v element has failed. Not a difficult fix if you have reasonable elec/mech knowledge & can get a new element, about £40.

Hi - I'm a very recent Caravanner...bought the van only yesterday in fact.

The fridge doesn't want to work at all - not on 12v, 240v or gas.   The gas lights, but after a few hours I tested to see how cold it was getting in there...and it wasn't...it was actually hotter.   The element(?) in the freezer section was noticeably warm to the touch.

The fact that none of the power option works suggests to me that there is one big problem rather than several little ones.   Where do I start looking?

Any help gratefully received.

Thank

For the fridge to get cold it needs to be level, if you are testing on a sloping drive for example, you need to level caravan & try again. 12v will only work while hitched to car & engine running & this with both leads 12n/12s connected or a fully wired 13pin.

If everything else is ok & fridge still don't get cold, suspect coolant leak. If you remove outside vent panels from caravan & look at back of fridge you may see brown gunge leaking out. No cure for that except new fridge.

Thanks Tentz - It's just stopped howling with rain, so I'll go and have a look.

I've only got single electrics on my car - so my diagnosis of the non-working 12v is based on the leisure battery (which I'll be replacing this week).

Anyway, I'll go and have a poke around and see what I can find.

Thanks again

The fridge has a mixture of 2 gasses to make it work these sometimes get totally separated and have have to be mixed together again - this is done by rolling the fridge and turning it upside down... it's best to uninstall the fridge from the caravan before doing this though

The fridge does not work from the leisure battery. Fridge only works from car battery while engine is actually running(with twin electrics)
