hi there guys been caravaning now for 3 years and finally these year we upgraded to a 1996 abi award northstar in fab conidtion only one owner before use

we have a few issues with her that are alittle annoying all though the dealer has been spot on every time but now even he is stuck one

first one is that the battery charger is having a few problems ie

she will charge when she feels like it and sometimes just doesnt want to

now this is where we are stumped because when the battery starts to fail we check the power given from the 12v transformer is fine but nothing at th ebattery pull the plug from the van and half an hour plug it back and every thing is fine again !!!!!

also does anyone have a handbook for one that i can copy please

We used to have a Nortstar years ago. From memory I would say forget the handbook. 14 years ago handbooks were actually worse than they are today!!!!!

Think your charger is faulty.

hi there john thanks for your reply, i know that manuals are pretty useless but iam getting annoyed with trying to work out with how to set the l shape custions up to made the bed without me keep falling though it

i am starting to believe that the charger is past its best i'm guessing that the charger is the white box that is in the wardrode as the fuseboard has charger written on it so getting confused

As you bought the van this year I think that maybe you should ask the dealer to take it in and check all of the electrics under the usual dealer warranty or Sale of Goods Act requirements. Dealer may be stumped but if it has an electrician worth his salt he wil lbe able to source the problem.

hi there guys thanks for the replys i would love a couple of the wiring diagrams although mine is a 4 berth northstar it may be able to help me trace the fault

yes its been back to the dealer more times then i care to remember lol and yes he has said he will replace the what we beleive to be the charger
