Hi there we are looking to buy a new van, we want 3 fixed rear bunks but wonder if there are any with bunks big enough for adults? Budget up to 15k or so, don't mind double axle but only jave ford galaxy
Thanks for your advice, christine

I think it's not so much the size, but the weight that the bunks would have to carry.  If you are all very, very, light folk, you might get away with it, but if I tried to get on a top bunk there would't be much left of it..... or those folk who were unfortunate enough to be underneath me!!

I may be wrong but I am sure the adria caravans bunks on the altea triple bunk model are quite wide, not sure about the weight capacity though

We have fixed bunks in our quasar - I'd love to try the top one - but at 90kg - I think its a no no!! Not trying to find out - looks like it could be an expensive mistake.

The two caravans I have had with bunks were restricted to about 11.5 stone.   As before, all depends on the weight of the adults. The bottom bunk can take any weight, but the middle and top would be restricted to lighter adults.

gazmister123's right regarding the Adria's (all great minds are from Redditch ) as we gave serious consideration to their range a few years ago. The bunks are probably the most generous in size I've seen and the construction of the bunks is far more solid than the competitors.

Only think that stopped us from ordering one was our consideration of future needs, which eventually proved our decision correct. I'd seriously consider an Adria in next van change.

I have an Adria 542 DT with three generously sized fixed bunks (one of my main reasons for buying it).  I've slept on the bottom bunk and it was fine. I don't know what the weight limit is for the other bunks - I'd suggest phoning a dealer and asking.  If you're not too heavy then they would be fine for you in terms of size if you're not too tall (I'm 5' 10" and got a very good night's sleep.

Regards,

    Derek.

I popped to the caravan dealers today as you do, and whilst I was there I had nosy at the vans they had an Adria with three fixed bunks so I remembered this post and had a look, now I know a woman never says how much she weighs but as this is for reaserch lol I shall tell you I weigh 11 stone and am 5'8 , I climbed onto the top bunk ( the dealer said I could) and was surprised how solid it felt, I wouldn't even consider doing this in my lunar top bunk , I wouldn't say it was the most comfy bed I've ever laid on but it was a good size.infact I like the Adria van very much and if I was in the Market for a van with fixed bunks it would definatley be on my top list, I thought it was a cracking van all round :)
