We were promised torrential rain for the New Forest all last week, ended up being a thin drizzle on the Friday night/Saturday morning as we were packing for home - drove home into blazing sunshine

Cornwall is so lovely in the rain - try a trip to Lands End - you'll find it very exhilarating

Is this the 3rd or 4th washout summer in a row? It seems like the norm now.

Looks like we're going to have a few winter weekend breaks to make up for the less summer ones we've had, it's colder but you often get crisp clear days.

Out of the three since we bought our current van, this is the worst.

We were away at the weekend, and the toilet needed emtying at about 7pm.  Our son was visting, and becaue his car was handiest he took me and the cassette to the emptying point in torrential rain.

The rain was so bad we just sat in the car, while others squelched through mud  to get water/ empty their own toilets.  He looked at one person, soaked to the skin, shoes and trousers covered in mud, trundling his Aquaroll - and then turned to me and asked 'Why"?

I couldn't give him a satisfactory answer at the time - and, thinking more about it, I still can't ;)

ask any farmer, our weather calendar has change in recent years...  Warm dry May/June.  Warm & sometimes wet July.  August washout and two weeks of sun in september.  It's brought Harvest forward but means that we get intermitent rain once comibing time gets here. :(

Brings back memories of why we gave up camping 3 years ago!!! Love been in the van when its raining - but you have to of got cold, mucked up and wet through whilst camping to really appreciate a caravan!
I suggest you switch the heating on low, get a good book or film out and pour yourself a well deserved glass of wine!

We came back a day early on Saturday due to torrential rain & showers. We waited for a break in the weather so we could get packed & folded down but the dry spell just didn't last. I got soaked to the skin emptying the aquaroll & finally after folding the caravan up we managed to set off home. Nice driving home while soaked to the skin. Mind you what topped it off was Sunday was gorgeous so we should have stuck it out the extra night & gone then.

Live & learn eh?

As you can see below we holiday in Cornwall frequently but dont bother going down in August any more. The best weather in the past couple of years has been September/October although last year the weather was really fowl in November.
