Hi all,

just inherited a 2 berth caravan  which we need to buy an awning for, (we have 6 children and although the older 2 probably wont want to come for weekends away with us, it would be nice to be able to take the others and dont think we would all squeeze into a 2 berth lol,

we have been looking around today at full awnings with the possibility of getting 2 annexes (one each end), but now noticed on ebay porch awnings, could someone be kind enough to tell me what the difference is, also most seem to say fit height of 230cm upwards, our rail is only 213cm from ground?(although handbook says 8'1")

also how long can the porch awnings goto?, does it matter how long your caravan is?,

Any advice on which type would be better for us, will mostly be used for weekends away , roughly sleeping 3 children and room for table and chairs.

im sorry if i seem a bit dense but being an ex trailer tenter i dont have a clue when it comes to having to choose awnings lol,

also is there any other good places to look at second hand other than ebay,

thanks in advance

lou xx

for the amount of people you want in there i would take you first option of a full awning and one or two annexes, i dont think there are any porch awning that would suit your needs, a standard full awning would be the same length of your van and come out 2.5m, porch awning are normally smaller in space(there are some large porch ones)and some can be drafty to sleep in,

www.preloved.co.uk or com cant remember, caravan forums, some dealer sale 2nd hand awning or your local free add.

It does sound like you'll need a full awning, porch awnings are great for a couple to give a bit of extra storage but not ideal for sleeping in.

Porch awnings do vary in length, the only thing to make sure is that it doesn't end up part way across a window.

If you still struggle for space with a full awning & table & chairs maybe you could sleep 2 in a small pup tent?
