If you visited February's NEC show, we may well have met (Jane Lynch, from Cardiff Business School). I am examining the UK touring caravan industry for a PhD research project. If you would like to share your thoughts on what matters when buying a new caravan, I am seeking volunteers to take part in a quick, easy and anonymous online survey. The findings will be shared with the caravan industry, supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Please note: the survey is only relevant to those owning touring caravans in the UK.

Re 'I would be prepared to pay a higher PRICE for my caravan to ensure the highest QUALITY standards'...this is either badly worded or shows lack of insight. The only thing that should make a difference in the price of a caravan is size of 'van & level & spec of equipment.

If a caravan is built from cheaper materials & has only basic equipment the build quailty should still be equal to the higher spec caravan. A cheaper low spec caravan(known rather daftly as 'entry level')should last as long as a more expensive 'van. Standards of build & quailty control should be equal at all price levels.

Sorry - it went on too long and I lost interest but caravans need to be built in all price ranges the same as any other consumer goods.

The important thing is that you get good value for the amount you pay.

Thank you for your feedback Tentz and Millermicm.

Thank you also to the many consumers who have responded so far. The average time taken, so far, for each person completing the online survey, is 8 minutes. You do not need to answer all of the questions but obviously it is a great help to improve the reliability of the findings if you do.

Many thanks again, to everyone, for your continued support.

Best wishes, Jane

Disagree with that statement. Workmanship is also of huge importance to the quality of the end product - not just `spec of materials' (or size)

You can use the best materials there are, but if you get a bunch of monkeys chucking it together who don't know or don't care what they are doing - you'll still have an end product which is rubbish.

just filled in your survey and it feels like its more about what you would expect in delivery time and who is responsible for late delivery etc ,i think you should be more asking about the quality,i agree with zorro you shouldnt have to pay extra for high quality it should come as part of the package,i would only pay extras for better cooking facilities, better quality mattress ect and maybe the fittings, the caravan is like a house or a car we can all have one the same but its what you want inside it at your own choice, like a new build, you can have the standard package or you can pay more at your own cost for a better finish,it should apply to caravans as well, the workmanship should be the same in every model regardless of cost,i think im trying to say the same as tentz in my own words
