We were in the Vendee last week and on our second day, we noticed loads of ants in the van. After much pulling up of cushions, we realised they had got in through a vent in the floor and we found a stream of them climbing up the steady in that corner of the van.

So, I went out and bought some ant-killing liquid (came in a small tube) and laid a ring of it round the vent. I watched and saw about 30 ants amble up, drink and then, almost immediately, die (apologies to the squeamish and/or vegans ).

Happy that it was all working, I replaced the cushions, intending to return later in the day and wipe up all the bodies. I also plastered the liquid all over the steady leg outside.

That evening, I lifted the cushions expecting to see a Somme-like wasteland of dead ants BUT...NOTHING . Not a single ant, alive or dead, to be seen...same outside round the steady. And we never saw another ant for the entire 2 weeks

It's like some of the ants got back to the nest, told all the others not to go near our van and then sent a 'body recovery' team to bring back their fallen comrades .

Can anyone explain this?

Forget nippon.A Sheen flamegun is much quicker.Just remember to tie the curtains back incase they get singed though.

  I had a similar incident, and now I keep an ant killer spray in the van , whenever we set up , I spray the wheels and steadies,  had no problems since. Even in storage I give them a shot.
