Went today - same old, same old.....
Maybe it's just me getting old/tired of caravanning/tired of life ;) - but I didn't see a single caravan that I's like really like to own.. At least, not like enough to part with money for ;)
The new Swifts looked nice on the outside - but I thought they were a bit cheap internally. The 'leatherette' doors, square and vinyl covered, looked straight out a cheap self assembly kitchen pack.
Seals were obviously better (could they have been any worse?) but as the the thing is still built using structural timber, it can't (in my opinion) compete with Alutech.
As for the rest of the motley bunch - same as last year, same as the year before that, and the year before that..... Lunar had stickers on the vans announcing 'New Interiors'.... what about some *really* new things for Lunar - like decent build quality and good customer service?...
Same overpriced accessories, same shark-like salesmen eyeing up potential victims. I didn't notice the Black Horse Finance trailer - perhaps that's a sign of these straightened economic timess.
One thing did seem noticeable - fewer visitors compared to previous years. Having said that, we usually go on a Sunday - dunno what the attendance is usually like on a Saturday, but it seemed quite sparse on Saturday afternoon.
The next 6 - 9 months are going to get very rough financially - perhaps the most interesting thing about this years visit to the Lawns was speculating who would fall by the wayside and not be there in 2011.
More than you might think, I suspect.
