There seem to be loads of people getting their first caravans at the moment, us included!

After spending far too many weekends being flooded and shivering in our tent, we've bitten the bullet and are now the proud owners of an (ancient!)Avondale Perle Orion.

It seems to have come with everything we need, just need to work out how everything works - we've had a trial run with the awning and managed to do it without killing each other so that's a good start!

Getting a tow bar fitted on Thursday - then the world's our oyster

Congratulations on your purchase!
We got our first ever caravan in April this year, and i've got say you will see the difference. I really appreciated our first few trips in the van-but i appreciated even more on a recent trip to St Ives! This is the 4th August on the trot we have been-and i hate to say that the weather is always pretty poor-but it was nice this year to sit out a rather wild rainstorm in the sanctuary of the caravan knowing that we didn't have to go out to the toilet etc-it was bliss!

Sure you will figure everything and there's loads of people on here happy to help out if you're stuck

Enjoy!

Welcome to the wonderful world of having a good nights sleep in the rain and wind. We were hardened campers until we made the right decision and bought one last year. We have a 12 year old Avondale and love spending every second in it. This is the place to come for every single question you can think off, no matter how small or silly you think it may be, there will be someone on here who will help you. Enjoy.

Wait until it's winter, and you're in your cosy warm van, watching the snow.

We recently bought our first caravan too, a 12 year old Avondale Avocet. We had a lovely tent set up but it was time to not have to worry about the wind and rain so much. We have had 4 trips away and when the inevitable wind and rain arrived we were snug and dry in our lovely van. We have picked up lots of tips on this forum, thank you everyone.

Congratulations and welcome - we made the change in July and haven't stopped caravanning since!!  I loved tenting but we've all fallen in love with caravanning especially last weekend in Derbyshire when it sheeted down most of the time - it was such a lovely feeling to be so cosy and warm with everything we needed inside our caravan.  Its nice to have the choice of inside the caravan or in the awning so I still kind of get my canvas fix!!
