I am trying to find out info on the correct tyres pressures for my abi monza 390-2 2 berth caravan and have got totally confused as i have been told its all on the tyre wall - consider first the unladed weight of the caravan is approx 670kg (i think) the tyres are:

Super Steel 735 (max load 437kg/963lb) how does that work out on a caravan? - first issue

then at max inf 36p 240kpa - not sure if its telling me inflation is 36psi?

I was given a reference page Here

Hence the confusion - have no manual and cant even get hold of an electronic manual or even a photo copy - hence total confusion

Don't use the maximum inflation pressure on the sidewall.  It's unlikely that this will be the correct running pressure. You need to find the correct pressure somewhere.

The chart to which you have linked should help.  Just look for your tyre size.

We have a 450S Monza which my parents are away in at the moment - so the handbook is with them. However, whilst I can't currently check what the handbook says I know that for the past 18 years I've fitted ours with reinforced tyres and run them at 42 psi.

If you are using tyres that aren't reinforced I'm sure the psi is lower.

Our Monza is 700kg unladen and 900kg fully laden - so that's not very different from yours. I seem to remember it came with non-reinforced tyres when new and the tyre pressure in the book was 36psi for those tyres.

This will be its last trip before I take it apart for spares as it's getting past the point of viable maintenance/repairs.

Thanks Grad Sailor - not far off then, its just in a couple of weeks we are going to Arran for a week and was not too sure of the tyre pressures, we had a handbook with our last caravan (a folding van) but not with this and cant get one.
Keep me in mind if you break yours as if there are some identical parts could buy them off you - cheers

It seems like you're in the ballpark.  What is the tyre size?

I would have said 35psi.  Always good to be down a bit from the maximum, but I wouldn't worry too much. You are certainly in the right area.

Take the max weight of the tyre multiply by the number of wheels you have on your caravan divide the result into the max psi shown on the tyre then multiply this result by the max weight of the caravan = correct psi.

           Max Tyre Pressure†
____________________________________________   X MTPLM of caravan = correct pressure
Max weight of each tyre X number of caravan wheels

† if the max tyre pressure is shown in psi the result will be in psi or Kpa - Kpa etc.

The psi shown in any hand book will only apply if the tyres are the same as those fitted to, or designed to be fitted to, the caravan when the handbook was written and as we all know caravans very often end up with totally different tyres even from the factory

I just did Rune Caster's formula for the original tyres fitted to our van and it came out at 37 psi - the book said 36 so that's pretty accurate.
