you need the CRIS DOCUMENTS from your seller or from CRIS.you will want to sell it one day and will be asked for this.

Change of Keeper Notification

When you buy or sell your caravan it is important to ensure the new owner is properly registered as the keeper. The Touring Caravan Registration Document (CVR6) issued to the current keeper should be used to notify CRiS of any keeper change. Like the V5 document for your car, the CVR6 should be completed by both, seller and buyer and both parts sent to CRiS. There is a small fee for processing this change and it is normally the new registering keeper who would pay this. The fee as at 3rd September 2007 £12 is £14.95 now. This can be paid by calling the CRiS Team on 01722 411430.

Unfortunately,& unlike other more enlightened European countries, UK caravans are not registered with the DVLA so legally a caravan dosen't have to have any paperwork. All UK caravans under about 18yrs old should be registered with Cris but it is up to the new owner to register change of ownership, when caravan changes hands. Unfortunately many don't & there is no legal requirement for them to do so.

Many imported caravans, even supplied new, have not been Cris reg.

All very confusing isn't it!  I agree they should be reg with dvla or an equivalent!  It must be ok as the finance company wouldn't have lent on it - we'll chase the company up where we got it from - also a large company.

Thanks for the info

If you purchased from a dealer, the dealer will normally notify CRiS. You will then get a letter from CRiS in a few weeks asking for some money for them to issue the new documents in your name.
