We have an Elite Sndringham awning its amazing - love it, but we want a lightweight for weekend trips.  We've seen loads of Sunncamp awnings on sites are they good??  We want it for evenings when the kids go to bed!!

We have one and like it.

It's easy and quick to put up, quick to dry if it's taken down wet and is quite spacious.  We only use it for short weekends away or in the spring/autumn when it's more likely to be taken down wet as it dries quicker than our big awning.

There's plenty of space for a table and chairs and other sundry items (kids bikes etc) but as it's a curved awning, you can't stand in the outermost edge as the headroom is limited.

Do we prefer the big full awning - yes.  Would we buy this awning again for occasional use - yes

Be aware, they do flap against the 'van a bit in the wind if you haven't pegged it out tight enough to the v'an!

There are lots of that type. We have the Kampa Rally 260, (they also do a 390), which I believe gives more usable space as the poles come out from the awning rail more horizontally than the others. They are all about the same size otherwise.

If you get a 2010 model they have poles which seal the awning against the van so it doesn't flap about. We have the Ultima 390 and we really like it.

They will never completely seal against the van as they do not go end to end in the awning rail  It is only the poles that holds it against the van down the sides, the slightest breeze can cause an annoying flapping sound.  We have owned one for over a year now and I believe it's a case of "you get what you pay for ". We are finding that the zips are particularly poor and are starting to wear out. They are quick to erect if you get the ground right!! preferably with as slight slope away from the van is ideal. We are looking to change to something a bit more substantial  for next year having dispensed wiith both a full and porch conventional awning in the past.  I intend to spend the winter looking for a similar design but hopefully with more sturdy material if such a thing exixts.

Further to my previous post, I have been doing a bit of ferreting about and like the sound of the Kampa 390 (2010model). It has adjustable front legs which greatly increases the chances of geting a better seal down the caravan, altogether it looks a better quality awning. Does anyone have one of these and can give an appraisal.

Just done what I should have done first of all and searched on threads with Kampa in the text to find awealth of posts on the subject..

Take a look at the Kampa Fiesta (350) too.  It may not suit you, but we find it much more substantial than any of the '390' lean-to type, and certainly much easier to put up than our old Sunncamp Ultima 390.  It, too is very roomy for a lightweight porch.

Tks for the info DSB. I am drawn to the  390 due to the fact that the latest model has "adjustable front legs ". The problem in the past with the old style has always been trying to get a decent seal against the van when on an uneven pitch. It has always been nigh on impossible despite the posts about pulling it under the van etc, all that has done is put strain on the door zips. Adjustable legs should make the task a lot easier. Looking at the 350 design, it would appear not to have the same issues due to it not having the fibre glass poles in the same position.  My son occasionally stays with us so we have an inner tent that I believe will fit a lot easier into the Kampa 390 than the 350, hence my choice. We are hoping to go and have a look at a few today and will certainly not overlook the 350.
