Hi Flip, personally I like to have the best of all worlds, and so I don't think there is a perfect answer. it may be that is why you are struggling with the issue......you are trying to find the perfect solution to every angle. I am with you on most points, me and my OH like quiet sites where we have agreat veiw, are not crowded in, but where there are others to be socialable with IF we want to be sociable!, we also like the finer things of life and are picky about having great food. The way we work it is we have a folding camper (conway cruiser) as we adore the feeling of being under canvas, we have a small toilet tent to give us that freedom if we want it. we choose not to have an awning and so the whole thing is up within 20 mins of arrival. We mainly stick to camping club sites and sorry caravanners we prefer those that don't allow vans becasue they look and feel less like a housing estate! BUT we mix and match with using self catering cottages or really classy hotels and that way we get our best of both worlds. No way do you want to spend £12K on a van not unless you win the lottery lol! Look how much you could do with that money using it in other ways. Our tent cost £2K it is 18 yrs old and going like a new one. On the subject of sites try the National trust one at Islam in derbyshire ( just north of Ashbourne) or the camping club one at ashbourne.
let us know what you deceide!

after reading recent threads ,im thinking you should get a cheaper van to start with to accomodate all your requirements,ie insurance ,storage or possible seasonal costs there are nice reliable vans for less than your budget ,see you have dismissed the idea of static, personally we loved it but there are lots of hidden costs i suppose and you cant move if you dont like the site,we also lost a lot of money when we sold up ,but still loved the idea of it all.
hope you get sorted out one way or another and good luck on your quest

I thought the Indiana wasn't end washroom. I think its the same layout as our bailey Ranger GT60 520-4. Near side fixed bed with a corner shower/toilet. Very nice layout, well equipped but only 1326kg MTPLM.

There seem to be plenty of spares about for those vans but not sure about side panel but maybe panel beating will cure it.
We have an imported Hi Lux Surf and have had no issues with spares. Google for a Granvia forum and take it from there.
