The front panel protection has been upgraded on all Alu-Tech construction caravans for the 2011 model year and the specification is now as follows:-

Olympus – A three-part 500 micron polypropylene protection film set

Pegasus & Unicorn – Re-designed acrylic capped ABS front bumpers and a three-part 500 micron polypropylene protection film set

Should owners of 2010 Alu-tech construction models wish to upgrade their caravan to this new specification these items can now be purchased from and fitted by their supplying retailer.

The three-part 500 micron polypropylene protection film set is available for both Olympus and Pegasus ranges and has cost of £48.18 (RRP including VAT). This can be fitted without the need to remove the existing ABS front bumpers and can be applied over the existing paint protection film. The set includes a third section of polypropylene film which covers the area between the central bumper and the gas box door.

The re-designed acrylic capped ABS front bumpers are available for the Pegasus range only at a cost of £129.11 (for a set of two RRP including VAT). Please note that as the new bumpers cover the lower entry point in the awning channel of 2010 models, the fitment of certain awning types will be effected (the entry point has subsequently been raised to a position immediately above the new bumpers for 2011 models).

Hi All,

Not only do they want to rip off the owners with older vans by charging them to overcome Baileys inept designs and poor build quality, they are rubbing more salt into their open wounds fro those with a full awning (Some costing thousands of pounds). Those poor owners, including me, are being told that when we buy these "improvements" our full size awnings will not fit due properly the retro fit bumber covering over the lower slot on the awning rail resulting in  a gap of several feet.

Choice  of dents or big gap in awning???

Does Baileys arrogance and lack of customer care know no bounds!!!.

Yes it's good to get a balenced view.  The stone dents which appear to affect a few vans as nobody has said otherwise appear only to be cosmetic: which must surely be a risk, depending on road surface, speed and the fact the van is just a few feet behind your car.

I love my Bailey pageant, I love camping and getting away from home.  My family love going away and relaxing.

If I stressed out at every ding on the van, scratch or stone chip on the car, then we wouldn't go anywhere.

I haven't experienced any dents or dings in the front of my Pegasus in over 2500 miles towed so far this year, however as Bailey seem to have acknowledged there may be a problem they should have the decency to pay to rectify it.

I will not be forking out the cash to have the protection film and bumper fitted, particularly if it creates problems with the awning rail. Having read about some of the problems regarding dents I bought one of these from Pro-Tec recently to protect the front of the van (just in case), it is cheaper than Bailey's solution and I believe a better option, being padded. I have only used it once and it does the job it says it does.
