We have a 'Mercedes vito dualiner' for our family car, it is neither van nor car. it has windows at the side with privacy glass.

I couldn't find a link to put on for you to see a picture.

It is a vehicle (for those who don't know) same as the ones those celebrities get moved about in.

ours has 2 front seats and then a row of 3 behind, giving a large space for 'stuff' behind. when we were tenters it was filled up, now we are caravanners it is not so filled up.

now...would you consider it to be a commerical vehicle? for those sites that do not allow them?

we insure it through a 'normal' car insurer, doesn't have to be commercial as not used for commercial purposes, just dommestic. however technically the sepc would say yes it is.

it is black in colour with a cycle carrier on the rear and it has no graffics or sign writing.

I would say commercial was more of your transit, sprinter (parcel del type) with sign writing or the tipper type with a yard broom tied on the back!

what do you think......

I would say not.

TBH any site that does sounds like it would be a PITA to stay at anyway, so worth giving a miss to.

If it's any help; we use a VW Caravelle towing a caravan, and even have a jack russell wearing a David Essex-esque neckerchief, but have never had a problem yet

If you do ever get viewed with suspicion, just open the sliding door and point out it's a people carrier.  Might even be an idea to carry a copy of your reg doc if you're worried.

Your description sounds like it's similar to my Toyota Granvia, which is classed as an mpv or people carrier, so I certainly wouldn't think it could be described as a commercial vehicle - mine never has been anyway.

Site owner "That looks like a commercial"

You "How very dare you... it's a luxury limousine, I'll have you know!"

Even throw in the "as used by celebrities", if you like.

Sorted! :o)
