We recently bought a Bailey Senator Indiana and during the pre-sale service a little bit of damp was detected which was quickly put right by the place we bought it from. We are keen to keep on eye on any developing damp problems. Does anyone know if we can buy a damp detector and how much it would cost?
Can I ask where the damp was detected, as we have recently purchased a Indiana from a dealer, who removed all the documents from the van,(left the service manualin) hes said it was for data protection, funny how he left the warranty documents in, with previous owner details.

Thanks Karen
I don't understand this one! Did he give you the CRIS documents? Or tell you to expect new ones through the post? It's important you have this IMHO. Do you mean he removed all the owner manuals etc? If so, I think you could safely assume he didn't have any in the first place - I can see no earthly reason to remove these.
Hi Yes we got all owner manuals/documents, he removed the paper work that is given after a job has been done, like a service, we got no paper work as to say what work had been done on its services. I did ring the last owner, he wasn't happy with the dealer as he had also take out the jack the ehu lead and a new filter for the pump which all had been left in the van.
To Jasper 15.......
I wouldn't expect him to leave any paper work for work that has been carried out, he doesn't need to.
To Cathy.......
What I can't understand is you say......'pre-sale service'....he would have picked this up sooner than that because he would have checked it over when, I guess he took it in part exchange.
I would keep it checked over with the metre, we have a three year old Pageant that has a 'little bit of damp', it is going in for warranty work, they say it may have to have a new front!
Hi i used this one cheer's. BB

To be fair to the dealer we needed to pick our caravan up within a week instead of the two or three weeks they would usually have liked. When we went to pick it up they said they had found damp in the rail and we could take it back at our convenience to get it sorted out. When we did we were told they had had to replace the back panel and it was now sorted out. However... if they had checked the caravan thoroughly before we picked it up they would have realised that the element in the fridge was not working and so we could not use the fridge for the whole week we were away in hot and sunny Yorkshire in the summer.
