Have any of you used these, and will they fit other standard fibre awning poles asd well as Ventura.  They look like a better alternative to the plastic wing nuts that come with many fibre frames.

Yes have ventura cadet awning with our Lunar. Completely agree they are excellent compared to our previous Dorema awning fixings and easy to use. I don't know if they are compatible with other poles but may be possible to try as certainly easier to tension up poles with these.

Thanks for your reply Twinman.  I think these clamps must be fairly new as you are the only poster so far.  I can't see why they won't fit poles of other awnings too (of the same size).  I imagine most of these awning poles are made by the same awning pole manufacturer anyway.  They look really good and might save a bit of time fiddling with plastic wing nuts.  I might get a packet and see how I go.

I bought some of these today and have replaced all the wing nuts on the poles with this v. simple alternative.  My awning is a Eurovent and they fit fine.  I guess they will fit other makes too.  I think it will speed up putting up the awning, and especially make the roof poles easier to cope with.  Looking forward to trying them out during half term.

I did read that all fibre poles for all awnings are made by the same company. Can't say that that's definitely true, but if so then one-size-fits-all.

However, I've found that it's not the plastic wingnuts that are the problem, but rather the quality of the bolts and nuts. The thread gets stripped after a while, and the bolts fail. I have a stack of spares, just in case.

Well I'll keep all the wing nuts/bolts/nuts as spares.  I've changed to these because one flip-over and the whole thing is tightened rather than to have to keep screwing up a wing nut.  I thought they would be especially useful for overhead work where it's more difficult to tension the poles and screw a wing nut at the same time.  No doubt time will tell.  I'll let you know how I get on.

I thought the fibre poles were probably made by the same company too.  I just took one pole into the shop and they opened a packet and allowed me to fit it first before I purchased them.

Just a couple of things, neither of which may be a problem :

1. They look like they stick out a lot so beware about the canvas rubbing on them.

2. Are they one-size ? Isabella IsaFix Clamps have two sizes (there's a chart somewhere that says how many of each you need for each awning).

Hi shirl250.  I saw some on a Ventura awning (that's what made me hunt out the spares)  and they were clear of the canvas.  You're right about the IsaFix Clamps.  These Ventura Fixux clamps are instead on the wing nut only, so you don't replace the whole of the plastic bit.  I guess this means that one size should fit all - they do on mine anyway - they're all fitted ready to go.

DSB, he's a stand-up guy...

And I've found out where I read about the pole manufacturer being the same for all awning manufacturers - Sept 2010 edition of Practical Caravan. The article comes with a photo of a bunch of fibre poles, and they are identical to the ones for my Ventura Marlin.

DSB - not sure what kind of Ventura you have, but have you had problems with the feet on any of your poles? Some of the pegging points have snapped on mine, and the dealer tells me that's a common problem. Unfortunately, the replacement feet available (Isabella brand) aren't the same (no pegging points!), so I'm wrapping pegging rubbers around the bottom of the poles and pegging via them. It's actually easier - and replacement feet aren't necessary.

Haven't seen the article but I thinks it's Campion in Denmark that manufacture all the awning poles and fixings including Isabella's ! Isabella Frame

Hi Viggo.  I don't have a Ventura awning, hence my Q. about if they would fit other awnings.  The Ventura Fixus fit my Eurovent just fine.  My poles don't have pegging points, in fact, in the past when I've had awnings with pegging points, I've never used them unless the weather has looked really bad.

One thing that does seem to be wearing is the joints where the roof poles join the down poles at each corner and at the centre pole.  It's the sort you have to give a turn to in order to lock them into position.  The two plastic 'pimples' on the end of the roof pole tend to be a bit mis-shapen.  I have bought some Isabella spares 'just in case'.  They look exactly the same (just a different colour) - hope they fit.  Hope they might be more substantial, being Isabella, but I suspect they're the same.

Hmmm, curiouser and curiouser. Having established that all fibre pole sets are the same, it seems they are different. Mine have no "plastic pimples" - they simply slot together - with a good four inches of the roof pole sliding into the socket with the corner or centre pole. They do not separate at all once the awning is up, so no need for locking pimples.

My pimples are on the end, here.

I think the poles themselves are the same, but different awning manufacturers use different methods for connectiong them.  That's my guess, anyway. !!
