Hi folks
Been looking at some new 2011 models and like the layout of the Elddis Avante 564 also with a similar layout one of the Swift Charisma`s. We like the Challengers and Conquerors but they don`t do a similar layout. We would prefer nay need with every finger and toe crossed that we get a van that just does what it says on the tin ie stuff works and it doesn`t get damp after 3 yrs so wondered what folk thought about these vans in particular the Elddis?
Thanks
Steve
I had the Elddis 556. the bunks became a waste of space, then went for the conqueror 645 with the end bed. now am waiting for my elddis super sirroco to come in nov, I loved both swift and elddis

have heard a few stories of bits falling of the elddis but everyone has horror stories with every make but the vans look really nice just seen the new ones at the nec show was thinkin of the 5 berth elddis but when the end beds are made up at the rear there was no were to put a tv even tho there was an ariel point small daft things but eneough to put me off so have got a swift challenger 570 with a fixed bed and end bathroom will see how we get on but love it so far
good luck with whatever you choose and just get a van that YOU want and not what people tell you are good or bad because everyone has a tale to tell
well wevev nevr had an elddis and we have ordered a tempest as we were just looking must say what we saw was top class weve have many differnt makes and all had teething problems so fingers crossed for november
I too liked the Elddis vans at the show but they didn't do the layout we want with Alde heating on a single axle. They looked good quality.
What I did like was the fact that they had the old fashioned roller blinds on them. Not these hard to open, flimsy, concertina types everyone else seems to use.
Shame because I would have liked to try one. Perhaps next year.
We like our Elddis odyessey 540 fixed bed end bathroom. It has the right layout for us two and works really well. Not sure I would like it being used as a four berth but then that would be the same with most vans. Nothing has dropped off. Everything works really well. Easy tow.
Faults..not many..no decent shelf near the bed. There are two over the bed at each corner but not deep enough to stand a cup on!! Had to make my own shelf, Only one socket where the tele goes. External socket in the battery locker which is behind the lead for the electrics so you have to unplug the van to use the socket and then can't use the socket as there is no power!! Really bright so I'm thankfull I don't need to use it.

we have had Eldis caravans for years, and I must say the Quality is second to none, we have had old and new and have never had damp elctric or gas problems they are sound as a pound.
Hi all
Thanks for all the helpful comments, looking good for the Elddis now to find a good reliable dealer nearish to York. Had dealings with Discover and been put off Wandahome maybe have to look further afield?
thanks again
Steve
We've had 3 from the Elddis group & never had a bad one, all good quality & no damp. We love the privacy windows so will probably continue to stick with them in the future.
we looked at the special editions based on the avante 540 , so much choice and oh so close to buying the compass vantage from discover , cracking deal against the pegasus . maybe next year......
loved the rambler and chatsworth versions as well from wandahome and glossop but discovers van just edged it on spec / price
Tempted to give Discover another chance, we had an experience with them about 4 yrs ago when they were called `Barrons` maybe different now . Were they displaying at NEC by any chance? we had tickets but couldn`t make it.

yes they were and in spite of reading alot of negative things in the past were impressed with what they were offering, the guy who looked after us was from dellamere , very helpful and would have come to our local branch for the handover if we had gone ahead with the purchase.
