on friday we decided to take up the plastic floor covering under the carpets( the clear one they fit when they are building the van) on our 5 month olld elddis avante 626 ,as we had noticed a stale smell not the nornal new van smell as we pulled up the protective covering the floor was soaked with stagnant water, it turns out the pipe from the pulldown sink in the washroom was not connected to the waste outlet and water ran down the inside of the van van and not into the wastemaster!!!!!!,the van has now been returned to the dealer for repair, but we are now worried about any damp problem this may cause in the flooring or internal furniture, the dealer says it have no effect ...but i know what dealers are like with their magic damp meter come p/x time.
any advice greatfully recieved

------------- If You Open Your Mind Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out
Provided the pipe has been reconnected then the source of the damp will be eliminated & the existing damp will dry. You would want the repair shop at your dealers to explain exactly what work was carried out & you would want it to be all dried out before you collect the 'van.

It is just like having a pipe burst in your house. You imagine ceilings crashing down and all sorts of problems afterwards with damp, but in no time once the water has dried everything is back to normal.

Apart from the huge yellow/brown stain that you can never paint out no matter how many coats of paint you give it
I feel for the OP, buying a new van should get you perfection and support, unfortunately...

I had similar with a previous van where the kitchen sink waste hadn't been fully tightened, so some grey waste had dripped beneath, onto fridge, ran down to the floor and as per OP had seeped beneath plastic floor covering.
Stank while it was a problem obviously, but once found and source problem sorted, the van was fine and no permanent smell or damp problem a result.
