Nearly finished the 2010 tour. Just Chatsworth left and then wintering the Caravan and leaving it in storage. But what needs doing during the winter months? Not much but here's my short list....

Need to give the awning a good clean if we can have a few sunny days for it to fully dry out. Then there is the ladder that came off at Sandringham to sew back on. Would that just be a case of needle and thread or something special? maybe that's the wifes' province.

Give the water hog/waste hog/toilet casette a good sterilising.

Chage the battery every now and again.

Anyone else got any little jobs lined up over winter?

I have had very little chance to use my van this season so hope to carry on using over the Winter. Will still give it a good wash and seal with "Fenwicks Overwintering" as it is left in the open in storage.

Many thanks for the tip Mr RC. Chandlers just five minutes away on the Harbour. Will go and have a look round this weekend. Too late I've told the wife its a womans job............

Only about £700 worth of damp repair!!  Taken the dealer and Swift since beginning of June to authorise the repair under the warranty (catalogue of poor customer service and bad record keeping between them!)  finally been authorised today ... just waiting for parts now!

We are going to Chatsworth on  Sunday funnily enough, first time for us and new area to explore too, looking forward to it.

Make sure you have a wander around the Chatsworth Farm Shop for something a little different

For a grand day out.....Into the estate through the gate, for which the CC will give you a key, and turn left. Follow the path into Baslow. In Baslow turn right until you come to the traffic lights and then turn left and walk up the hill.*** At the top, at the junction, turn right and just walk to the end of the road where it reduces in size to a track. Keep going in the same direction as you go up a steep hill until eventually you pass through a gate onto open Moorland. At the gate look back down to Chatsworth House. Then continue up the hill until the path turns left and follow that walking along Baslow Edge. Cross the road above Curber and straight on to Curber Edge. Eventually (about 1/2 to 1 mile I think) there is a path down through the woods (may take some finding so take a map). You drop down to the river and follow that into Curber passing a converted Mill that was used as Colditz Castle in the BBC production. Turn left at the mill and along a footpath and over the Bridge where you turn left up Curber Hill. That's when you need real stamina.

Half way up take a right turn and just past the first few houses is a track on your left. You have to climb up onto the track. Follow that to the end and turn right and head to a farm. Through the farm and along the farm road which brings you out to *** (see above) and then walk back into Town and the Chatsworth estate.

Well thats one day catered for and some absolutely wonderful views.

At the Cheshire Cheese Inn at Castleton you can take your dog in. Foods good.

Pooles Cavern cafe at Buxton also allow dogs in and give them doggie biscuits.
