I am looking to buy a caravan for around the 9 to 10k mark and have settled on a 4 berth fixed bed layout-we have two children.
Have viewed a few at a caravan centre and quite like the look of the bailey pagent bordeaux and a abbey vogue 470.
we will probably buy privately though as seem to get more for your money.
Unfortunately the van must be lightweight as the c max focus we have has a kerbweight of 1420kg.
Any other vans I should consider and any other advice welcomed as caravan virgins!

Hi Dominic

As Geoff says above the bailey pagent bordeaux is a bit heavy for your C Max (you do not say what cc), the Mk 5 Bordeax has a MTPLM of 1366 Kg and the Mk 6 has a MTPLM  of 1300Kg.

As a first time buyer possible others for the money is a 2009/2010 Bailey Ranger GT 460/4 MTPLM 1252 Kg (has all the goodies onboard), Our Pageant Burgundy has a MTPLM OF 1400kG but our GT60 520/4 has a MTPLM of 1326 kG

Idealy also consider a Mk 6 Bailey Ranger 520/4 which has a MTPLM of only 1282Kg and should be much better for towing and plenty of room for the family plus you should get a near new one for that sort of investment and roughly an 85% weight Ratio! and a good spec:

Don't forget if you have no part exchange Negotiate Negotiate Negotiate the asking price! Then when you reach an agreement on the asking price then start on the free extras before you sign!

Good luck

Mike
