There are always a number of options to resolve a dispute and the advice you have received is one option. Easier option is to get Wandahome to accept their liability and for them then to repair. Sueing through the Court can be a long winded exercise and you would need to show to the court that you have tried to deal with the problem without litigation i.e that you have written and demanded satisfaction.
Spring is just around the corner and until it is repaired you can't go out in the van. Maybe get an appoint with the MD and demand an answer there and then. Ater all it doesn't take long to reply to a letter!!! If they won't play ball then get a quote for the repair and advise Wandhome of the cost so that they have the opportunity to do it themsleves. If they don't respond then repair and sue. In any hearing if they claim the cost is too much you can at least show that you gave them the opportunity to do the work. You have to develop your case and plan for their defence when taking court action.
If you do get to court action, and secure judgement in your favour and they ignore it then go for a warrant of execution against the company. The bailiff will pop round and seize a caravan and take it away and sell it to recover your debt plus the costs of the bailiff in removing and selling the van. That could be a salutory lesson!
