Hi If you mean Woodwells it, it certainly is still operating. I have two family members who store caravans there
Cheers Ratty
Hi Ratty, I stand corrected, it's just when you try to find any information on this site, nothing comes back. Could you giive me an address and phone number for them please.

It's not a company Ratty, it's the local council.

Fees are currently £422.21 per annum inc. VAT but expect them to rise.
Currently I store my caravan at Barnfield Storage which is in Braintree, 42 miles from where I live. As I only use the caravan three times a year at the most, this is not really an inconvenience. The northern stretch of the A10 is an excellent stretch of road and the A120 through from Bishop's Stortford to Braintree is dualled all the way, so the journey only takes me about 50 minutes each way.
They have been the cheapest by far, (I paid £395.00 for 2010) and offer a really secure compound of hard standing with two washing bays and an air line. They advertise most months in the caravanning press. Don't expect the price to rise by much more than 5%.
There's also a Bronze CASSoA site just off the A505 about 4 miles east of Royston at Summerhouse Farm. It's quite secure and I used it for a couple of years but really do wonder how it gets any rating at all. It's basically a huge field full of caravans and in the winter, it becomes an absolute quagmire. You have to don wellies and walk to your caravan. The farmer will tow it off with his tractor if you want to use your caravan in the winter. He won't let you use your own vehicle irrespective of its drive configuration. So not brilliant.
Finally there's the CC site at Ashridge Farm, Ashwell, nr Baldock lying again just off the A505 to the east of Baldock. You have to be a CC member to use this site.
I realise that none of these sites are particularly convenient to Luton apart from the Hemel one, but then the whole area is becoming a bit of a caravanning wilderness with the Amber Leisure "thing" in Hitchin as well.
Hope this has been of some help.
Vic

Whoa Chill Steve, I was only trying to give a factual account to Chowey007 about the Pepperstock site, I don't own it or anything! Alison
Hi Alison.
It's a shame you don't own it, at least I would know who to moan to.
As for chilling out, the way this site takes my money and gives me virtually nothing for it, does not incline me to be "cool".

Thanks Ratty. Will take a look at it. I take it you rate it as ok?
Cost wise it is on a par with the Caravan Club sites, I used to keep mine at both Ashwell and Welwyn Garden City CC storage sites, and they were priced the same.
The security is good with double gated entry, key coded fobs for entry. CCTV.
My family have been using Woodwells for the last 8 or so years and never had any problems.
I would say it is worth checking out
Cheers Ratty

The storage site at pepperstock is awful
The site is so packed it can be impossible to get your caravan or motor home in or out..
i took my van out for a week and when i returned my space had been given to someone else as i had apparently been away for a long time..
i thought 7 days was not excessive .. but long enough to lose my spot
not recommended if you have a large caravan or motor home
also the 24 hour security is if and when the guy that lives on site can be bothered to exit his caravan
i have seen him once in 6 months
