the start of our journey the forecast today shows gusts upto 55mph normal wind 30mph, the 1st part is fairly open then going enclosed hedge roads (no motorways) the end of the journey shows gusts upto 40 mph ( only 40 miles away)
Trundle along. Maybe don't even get to the 55 max. Slow down if lorries are about to pass whether overtaking or by coming the other way. Hope you're not using the Humber Bridge today!!! If so then I think a prayer might help

the weather is bizarre up here, out of nowhere just had an amazing bolt of lightning with the loudest thunder ive ever heard.took the power out etc , not a rumble of thunder before or after....weird !!!

The bottom line is that if you don't feel comfortable in any given situation, then you shouldn't get into it.
If the thought of driving in dodgy weather conditions gives you heart palpitations, then simply don't do it. In life in general and driving in particular, experience and confidence are important factors.
We were booked on Knaresborough CC site but I cancelled on Tuesday after looking at the forecast for Friday, no way am I towing in gusts of 45mph, brown trousres wouldn't help either.
