If you can get the larger bottles in your gas locker then change to those. The 4.5 kg bottle is only a couple of pounds less than the 7 kg bottle to refil.

So do I presume it is better to go directly to Calor to swop to a Lite, than at the local builders merchants?
Only if you have a 6kg or 7kg standard bottle

OOOOH! They have changed it! That was sneaky! Mind you it is a while since we swapped ours. Think it was right when they first came in.
Good link Michael.

thanks i knew the rules had changed on exchange bottles but this time is different from the last time i looked.one time it did not matter what size of bottle as long as it had calor written on the outside.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I've had no real problem swapping any bottle size over the years. Sometimes a grumble but never a refusal. on one occasion I had to threaten to go to another supplier and that did the trick.
Your intention to caravan in the colder months dictates that you change to Propane and if you are not planning to depend on a 10+ Amp EHU it also dictates you move to a 6 kg bottle. A really sharp weekend off EHU could risk emptying a 6 kg bottle and believe me you will not be in anybodies good books if you run out of gas on such a weekend!
a point to remember is that both clubs will only change calor bottles,if you have other suppliers change before you go.had to drive about 11 miles one time because of this.
