My 4.5kg butane bottle is coming to its end and I am thinking about having both gasses in the van (already have a full 4.5kg butane) as I will be going away alot this winter & next summer
Can I connect both gas supplies to the one pipe by the use of a Y piece (only using one gas at a time tho)
Could be complicated. Can't think why not if you have separate supplies from the 2 regulators into a Y piece but I would definitely ask a gas expert. Frankly I fail to see much advantage as manual switch over would be necessary anyway. Why do you want both gases? Use up any butane you have and switch over to propane for summer and winter would be my advice. Speak nicely to the CG dealer and he should swap one for another - certainly has done up till now (especially at this time of year) but I read elsewhere of dealers getting a bit picky.
Its just because I have a full 4.5kg bottle sitting in the locker I only got it the other weekend as forgot to get it replaced after it ran out on my last outing and didn't even think of going to propane at the time.
Soppy..........but all the very best............Westminster Abbey or a Church in Worsley?

If you have a regulator on each bottle & only use one bottle at a time it will work.
I belive one of the advantages of bulkhead fitted regulators is they will work at a pressure to suit both butane or propane. If however you do not have one fitted and just change to propane, you may find that the jets on your appliances will not work correctly, and could be dangerous.

Caravan appliances will work equally well on butane or propane, you don't have to change anything. I assume as the op has a '94 caravan he will be using bottle mounted regulators. With a bulkhead regulator you could have 1 butane & 1 Propane bottle connected & it would be ok.
