We were lucky in that we did not even have to advertise our caravan, but simply mentioned on here and in the owners club, that we were thinking about selling our van and potential buyers were knocking on our door.
There were three main problems when it came to us selling our caravan.
1.- Being a micro-van, it would only attract a very specialised market. 2.- We are well off the beaten track for potential viewers. 3.- We were trying to sell at the end of the caravan season.
However, by setting an attractive price and spreading the word in the correct circles, the van sold within 2 months of us deciding it was time for a change.
The Folding Camper that we bought to replace the caravan, we found on the Preloved Website. However we have since realised that this site is not very up to date and many units that are advertised there have in fact sold a long time ago.
Potential buyers have to be attracted to your van rather than just any old van and so it has to be set at a good price and prepared properly. IE, an incentive to travel to see it and then something that a buyer will fall in love with.
Any thoughts of selling your van through an agency is just throwing your money away. You are at a time of the year when weekends and evenings spent preparing your van for selling will reap rewards later when it actually goes on sale.
