Hi, we,ve just bought a Bailey Ranger 2009 520/4 gt60 and were wondering if any owners have used a porch awning on this model. We were looking at the Ventura Marlin which is 340 x 230 cm. Our local stockist has told us the Marlin will not fit as it,s too long and will foul a window or something else. I,m a bit confused as I thought any porch awning would fit.

Has anyone tried this size of porch awning for the Ranger or do we need to look at a smaller size.

Think I can see what the dealer means here. The window to the front of the door is partly within the curvature from the roof so fitting an awning of the size you quote will more than likely foul the front edge of the window and possible encroach over the rear window(s) too. This isn't a big problem and some folk are happy with this, (I personally wouldn't be as there's a risk of surface damage to the window), so option would be to measure and aim for a smaller awning to fit between left of door and to between the two windows to the right of the door (hope I've explained that ok).

I have two porch awnings from Outdoor Revolution; the Porchlite XL and Compactalite 250, both of which are excellent for our 500/5, but think you'll need to get some specific measurements to see what best fits your 520.

Thanks Paul for the explanation, that makes more sense to me now. Once we,ve collected the caravan we will measure the caravan as you,ve suggested. Have a good Christmas.

We too have the bailey GT60 520/4 and use various awning types.

The porch awning we use is from riversway leisure(check website with this name),called the'' riviera horizon porch 390''which fits perfectly without covering windows. As the name suggests it is 390cm wide by 240cm deep,so more than large enough to keep your clobber!Hope this helps!

Thanks for the time to reply charlieboy2608,

Do you mind telling me where your awning fits on the caravan. If you are looking at the door is the left hand side of the awning fitted to the left of the door ?, As you,ve said it doesn,t foul the window. As I said previously we haven,t collected the caravan yet so this is a bit of a guessing game for me.

Also how do you get on towing with a C-max?

Cheers

We have exactly the same caravan and use a Sunncamp ultima 260. It fits perfectly, Front is between the door and the front side window, the rear takes in the little window above the side board. Its plenty big enough for the two of us and we actually prefer it to the full awning we had before. We find it much more cosy.

Thanks for the reply and link navver, I see your local to us, we are only in Emersons Green 24

Do you mind me asking if you get any condensation in your awning due to the material it,s manufactured from?

Happy New Year in advance!

Hi again and sorry for the delay in replying!!!

Hope you are enjoying your new van.The awning goes from the left hand side of the door(leaving the lounge window outside)all the way along the side covering both the sideboard window and bed window,so just about perfect!

Opps just forgot, you mentioned the C-max!

We have the 2-litre diesel, works out at 86% on the matching ratio,so just over the ideal 85% as recommended by the major clubs.

Pulls like a train even up hill, can average about 28mpg when pulling the van, don't tend to use 6th gear unless is a familiar road which i know is pretty flat!-Highly recommended car!!!Sure I'll get abused by the 4x4 brigade but suits us just fine
