We are currently thinking of purchasing a 4k caravan and was wondering what markup a dealer usually puts on a van ??

OH wouldnt mind buying privately and getting more for money, I am more conservative.

Just wondering if there are any success stories out there ?

On a general point my post (towards the botom of this page) buying a van  may be of assistance. Buying from a dealer or private is not just about cost, its about buying in a way that protects your investment.

You will get more for your money buying privately but won't get the warrenty that dealers may offer.

I bought my caravan privately last year for the princely sum of £450 (was advertised at £595)
I desperately wanted a caravan but was very limited by MTPLM weights and how much I could afford to spend. No dealer could offer me anything within my weight or price requirements which is when I started scouring private sales.

I had a good look around the caravan, including underneath too, used my nose (if it smells damp then it probably is!) and asked lots of questions - why are you selling? how much use has it had? when were brakes/tyres last checked? has it had a service and if so, when? any extras included?

I was really pleased with the deal we got and Holi is perfect for me!
