I have read that sky can not be viewed while in a touring caravan as the sky box has to be connected to a phone line. Not true as such. As far as I know, after the initial contract has expired (usually 12 months), you do not need to have a phone connection - BUT - if/when Sky upgrade the programme guide and/or change your card, a phone connection is required for those...
I've taken my Sky box (and card) with me two or three times now, and it's worked fine!
