Instead of paying silly prices for storm straps on an awning, we bought some tie downs from Halfords and two large pegs. We then used these on the inside corner of the awning and had no issue.
If you want extra guys,Clingons are the way to go .You can fit them anywhere you like. As said earlier,forget slides as they loosen in really windy weather.I put a rubber at the peg end of the guy and use Delta pegs

thanks for feed back folks. I'll try some of the ideas. I've used "springy " ropes on the awning and frame and that helps a lot - and they dont "thrum". But when the wind was too strong the fibre poles snapped! as the awning was pushed against them. The guy next door had the same result with aluminium poles - that was in Wales. Anyway, we'll see what happens and report back anything interesting. thanks.
