Try the caravan and camping club. We had our last van knausstarclass 560 insured thru them it was single axle though but only a foot shorter in length than our new van.which is a twin axle.
£353 seems about right for a large 2008 'van. I'd go for that, if you can't find anything lower. Insurance cost varies according to postcode of where caravan is kept.
This is about what I pay for a Hymer with the caravan club.
However, some companies have a habit of trying not to pay out if at all possible. I could get cheaper cover, but the reputation of the CC and their history of good support when things go wrong, make the additional cost worth it to me.
I suppose you have to weigh it up for yourself, at the end of the day you will find out if your choice was correct, if you have to make a claim.
IMHO £353 for a twin axle Dethleff is not bad, lets face it vans dont come much better again IMHO, is your post code L or PR, this does tend to make a difference, anyway if you are really not happy with the premium I will swap you for my Sterling eccles

------------- Does it ever get better than spare ribs and chops straight off the BBQ
wasnt really thinking about insurance when we bought it, just fell in love straight away, am sure ur van is lovely aswell. Yes we do live in L postcode so that probably makes a difference too.
Like I said wasnt really sure how much it would be but feel better now people on here have said its reasonable.
The only place who would insure my 2010 Hobby Prestige was the Camping and Caravan Club. I had been insured through the Caravan Club with previous vans for over 15 years, but they would not insure the Hobby. It will be on a secure seasonal pitch for the forseeable future, so it's easy money for the insurers, I would have thought.... no chance of a towing accident, which must be the reason for a large number of claims.
Anyway, I shall be leaving the CC when the renewal is due... no need for them any more! By the way, which companies gave you quotes - most wouldn't touch my Hobby with a bargepole!

Cades insurance was the one at £353, that was at the show yesterday, asked at coast and towergate bakers who both looked at me like I had 2 heads.
Thanks for that info, Jenna. I will make a note of them for when it is due for renewal.
I know what you mean, you are made to feel like some sort of freak for daring to have a German caravan. For what it's worth, I love mine!!
As others have said £353 seems reasonable. I don't think we pay much less for our British van with the cc.
You could always try E&L. They might well be cheaper but from other posts they will move heaven and hell to avoid paying out. They have a bad name for equine insurance also.
