Hi we use 6kg Calor Lite - we have two bottles so we always have a spare but tbh we haven't used much gas thus far.

What type of touring do you do, if it's not through the winter and you stay on pitches with electric hook-up then the gas will last ages so you can have 2 small or lite bottles, doesn't matter if butane or propane.

If you winter camp then propane would be best.

two 6 kg calorlite for us would not go back to the heavy bottles.

the new calorlite bottles weighs only 10 kgs or 22 lbs,means we can carry two bottles and not one.found the clubs will only change like for like meaning if you have old type bottle then you get the old type bottle back.if you have calorlite you get a calorlite.calorlite only comes in the red bottle propane which is not a problem because we use that all the time now.the other thing is only use calor because that is what the clubs use they will not take a shell bottle or any other name.found out the hard way and had to drive about 22 miles for refill.

ive used all sizes and its all about personel preferances,ie how and where its going to travel is it going to take up to much room or be unsafe if not in front locker.

how often is it going to be used just cooking on the hob 1 or 2 time a day wont hardley touch any gas yet using it to run fridge fire and oven will use more.

can you fit 2 smaller bottles in better than 1 big bottle and if you can only carry 1 big bottle where are you going to get a refil if it runs out half way through holiday.

dont forget gas is getting very expensive as my 19kg bottle that i paid £20 something pound for last time is now gone up to just under £60,

also before buying shop around for a good priced outlet also do you have an empty bottle as the deposit on a bottle is as much as the gas itself.

i was lucky when i had to buy my first bottle as travelers had left a stack of empties on local carpark and i bought my refil from a roofing supplies merchant as he was cheapest in area
