I've managed to recieve another kind donation of an empty 13KG Flogas Butane gas bottle from a friend of mine. Flogas have refused to exchange for a smaller one so it's going spare if anyone can collect from Coventry.
I'm back on the hunt for a smaller one. email me if interested (I think the link still works).
Hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this????
but i dont understand why they wont change it place here in leicester will give you anysize you want as long as you have a bottle from the correct supplier

My local caravan shop wouldn’t change my 13kg for smaller one, they wanted £30 deposit & £20 for the gas on the small ones, so i just use the 13kg one,
I had two 4.5kg butane and wanted a 6kg propane, got refused at several stockists, then I went to GO Outdoors... they will change any size of calor bottle (which they did).
If you have a Go Outdoors local nip down to the recycle centre and they will give you an empty cylinder and save yourself 30 quid.
Hi All, thanks for the replies. The local tip in Cov won't release bottles to the public. Apparently due to health and safety (more like claiming the returns from the suppliers probably). I tried a few times to offer cash, they wouldn't have any of it.
Maybe I should do a ring round the roofing/builders then? never thought of that.
I was looking for a 6 or 4.5 so I'm sure they'd be happy to swap for a larger one?

Hi I found that out aswell, but if they have'nt yet recorded them, the talk nicely and you may find that he will give you a bottle, give him few quid for a drink,in appreciation, but first always ask if it will get him into trouble,as some authoritys are very strict.

On the subject of gas bottles, I've just been looking on Calor's website, and came across this bit of interesting information. If an unwanted bottle to them and you don't have the original hire agreement (which only gives you back a fraction of your original deposit anyway) they will donate £5 to charity. It would appear everyones a winner, Calor get back redundant bottles, which must reduce investment in new ones, charity benefits, and it prevents the possibility of an "illicit trade" in bottles which could occur should the £5 be given to to the returnee.
Pete.
