I want to put my caravan cover back on now. When it came new it had a soft fleece type of material that was used to cover each window and stop any fine scratching of the windows when the wind blew. I still have the covers but I would like to find a better way of fixing them to the windows.
Last year I used a type of tape that left a hard residue on the windows and it was a pig to get rid of, any suggestions please?
Yep, Thanks I thought of masking tape but if its left on for a few months it too tends to dry up and leave a mess to clean up. Insulating tape has been my best one so far, what do others use I wonder?
if it was mine i would be tempted to tie fishing line to each top corner and fix to the window in open position by tying off on the inside.close the window and lock it.anything larger that fishing line will make indents in the rubber and may cause a leak.any tape used will leave a mark.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Now thats a good idea Michael, I never thought of using fishing line and being a fisherman I have plenty. It sounds like a bit of a two-man job so will have to enlist my better half.
I could maybe utilise an elastic band in the inside of the window where I tie them together. This would give a bit of tension and make it easier to remove/refit next time.
we dont use anything under our cover it did come with the window webb stuff and some corner protecters .we figured the road stone chips are worse than the cover can do anyway.but we have no marking from our cover anyway.
I use Henkel's (Duck) Transparent repair tape for glass and plastic, on the roll it looks green, but as you unwind it, it's clear. It is strong and waterproof and when you remove it, it comes away clean and you cannot see where it's been

Don't use clingfilm, there is a chemical that reacts with the perspex and may cause bubbling. I can only speak for our covers but don't cover your windows, just make sure they are clean before fitting and that there's no dirt between the cover and the windows and they'll be fine.
